Smaller 1.5" Rocks are best suited for covering areas at a depth of 2"-3" deep.
Common Uses:
- Replacing sod for maintenance free landscaping,

4" to 12'
Medium Sized Rocks and Boulders are best suited in small quantities when mixed with 1.5" Rock or used in large clusters for:
- Filling large depressions

Medium to Large Size Boulders are best used in Landscaping Designs in smaller areas or parts of your yard with spacial restrictions.

If you are looking at creating a large boulder feature in your front or back yard, it is going to require large machinery to install them. An average 4' wide/tall rock can weigh as much as 6,000 lbs.
To move a rock that size may require equipment larger than a Skid Steer Loader to move and place. If your boulders have to be lifted onto an elevated bed or resting place, a small truck mounted crane may be required to move and lift the boulder.
If your landscaping design requires an above average boulder of 5' wide/tall or larger, a crane is the only method to safely install your boulder into place.
